#72 #dontbelievewhatyoureadinthepapers… An obvious statement perhaps, and yet many people seem to hold papers in high authority. #ecclesiasticus19v4to17 tells us that “One who trusts others too quickly has a shallow mind…” and warns against repeating a conversation, claiming that you will lose nothing if you do not, implying that you will lose if you do! These words struck me as I read a news article concerning David Cameron’s attack on Corbyn: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/oct/07/david-cameron-attacks-jeremy-corbyn-conservative-conference
Where politicians have to resort to twisting one another’s words, or putting another spin on what they said and taking phrases completely out of context to further their own popularity, I wonder whether society should be calling them to account. Such #gossip would not be tolerated in most other professions, so why does society tolerate it from government?
