The Velveteen Rabbit

#77 #velveteenrabbit is one of those beautiful childhood stories that still makes me cry. An old horse in the nursery tells rabbit about becoming real: “‘Real isn’t how you are made,’ said the Skin Horse. ‘It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.’”
Becoming #real or #authentic or #yourself is perhaps what happens when you allow yourself to be loved by God. He continues that process of #formation by further shaping you and moulding you, like a potter moulds clay, all because He loves you. Just like the velveteen rabbit was told, it sometimes hurts but in the end you don’t mind and it doesn’t happen all at once but it is worth it! #bemorereal (at Ripon College Cuddesdon)
