Doing the right thing…

#33 How often do we disregard another person’s personal circumstances and only see things from our own point of view? Too often I do this, especially when I am busy. Jesus was incredibly compassionate though, and calls us to be the same. This lovely dove died the day after this photo was taken. He had been quite week from the early stages but my Dad thought he would grow stronger. If only he could have communicated how he felt, and what he needed, perhaps it would have been possible to show more #compassion and end his suffering sooner. #mark8v1to10 #morningprayer

Don’t Ignore Me!

#32 #goodnews just seems to burst out of us, like the way the sun shines. Obviously this is usually a good thing, but what about when we’re asked to keep something quiet? A deaf man who Jesus healed could not keep quiet even though Jesus asked him to…is it ever right to ignore someone’s request? #mark7v31toend #morningprayer (at Ripon College Cuddesdon)

#30 Intentions can be invisible or difficult to communicate at times. Our #intention to protect our cats from the trauma and stress of moving were completely irrelevant to them…why on earth would we put them in a small box into the car when they were comfortable at home??? But they can be #brave and rise above the challenge they face even when they don’t understand. #mark7v14to23 #morningprayer

Respond With Love

#29 Sometimes we can lose sight of the #humancondition … of the need to be listened to and understood, to be loved. We get hung up with #tradition and rules and respond with what is right and wrong, rather than what is needed. #morningprayer #mark7v1to13

Take The First Step

#28 #martinlutherking said that “faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase”. #faith requires us to be brave, to trust something or someone, to believe without evidence or proof! #morningprayer #john1v43-51

Jesus is the Bridge

#27 As I was born in Scotland I love to return for a visit, and I really like the Forth Road Bridge and the Tay Bridge…perhaps because bridges aren’t a regular part of my driving experience at home. This photo (not shot illegally!) made me think of a worship song (These are the days of Elijah) which has the chorus “Behold he comes, riding on a cloud…”. I think we can all get so wrapped up with the pressures of life that we forget what the purpose of life is. Purpose can be short term, medium term and long term and #morningprayer this morning reminded me of the long term purpose: Jesus, the beginning and the end (much like a bridge between us and God perhaps) will come again: “Look! He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, … ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega’, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” #rev1
